Jason Singer graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, specializing in comparative politics. He then went on to earn his law degree from Queen’s University in 2002. Jason spent his articles clerking for the Superior Court of Justice of Ontario and was called to the bar in 2003.
- Successfully represented Plaintiff in fire loss claim against insurer where jury awarded $175,000.00 in punitive damages for bad faith conduct of insurer in denying claim based on an alleged misrepresentation in in the application process (Haji-Fazul v. Lloyd’s Underwriters)
- Successfully represented Plaintiff in medical malpractice claim where Court found against physician for negligently performing a plastic surgery (Penticostes v. La Fontaine Medical Group)
- Successful co-counsel with Alfred M. Kwinter at trial where Court found in favour of insureds against its insurer and repair contractor including an award of $100,000 in punitive damages (Brandiferri v. Wawanesa and Strone)
- Successful co-counsel with Alfred M. Kwinter before Ontario Court of Appeal establishing new law in causation for Occupier’s liability (Kamin v. Kawartha Dairy)
- Jason articled for the Office of the Chief Justice of the Superior Court of Justice of Ontario in the Southwest region. He worked side by side with the Justices where he gained unique insight into the court process from behind the bench.

Articles & Blog
Jason has had national success as a competitive swimmer, earning national champion status in the 5k open water competition. He also participated on two CIS championship teams at UBC. Jason still swims every week and is a member of a Masters Swim group here in Ontario. Jason has had a unique array of international travels – having visited Africa, North, South and Central America, Europe, Asia. He has also hiked the Inca Trail.
